Renowned molecular biologist visits KAU

As
part the Highly-Cited Researcher Programme, Prof Hannun Yusuf Hannun, a
renowned molecular biologist at Duke University, US, was received on
Monday January 28th by Prof Adnan Zahed, Vice President for Graduate
Studies and Scientific Research.
The meeting was attended by Dr Abdullah Obaid, Dean of the
Faculty of Sciences, Dr Khalid Abulnaja, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies
and Scientific Research, and Dr Taha Qumsani, of the Department of
Biochemistry.
Prof Hannun, whose work focuses on the lipid mediators of
cancer cell signaling, studies that have also impacted other biomedical
disciplines including neurobiology, inflammation and metabolism, is
scheduled to give lectures to share his expertise with KAU faculty and
studnets.
The purpose of the visit, according to Prof Zahed, was to
discuss aspects of mutual cooperation in scientific research in line
with KAU's policy of seeking to provide a high-quality education and
taking advantage of the capacity and expertise of other local and
foreign universities and scientists.
